MIELOGOS
About Mielogos

A home for an emerging practice.

Human–AI literary work is often forced into categories that answer the wrong question: was the text human-written or AI-generated?

Mielogos begins somewhere else: what creative relation caused this work to become what it is?

Why Mielogos exists

A label is not enough.

Writers and other practitioners working inside materially consequential human–AI creative relations need more than a binary label. They need language precise enough to describe the practice, a place to find one another, and an institutional setting in which the field can be discussed without purity tests.

Mielogos exists to provide that home: literary and cultural, but also scholarly, professional, and publicly inspectable.

It does not claim that every use of a generative system is symbiotic, nor that Mielogos owns the concept or defines the only legitimate way to create with generative systems.

What Mielogos does

Build the conditions for a field to exist in public.

01

Provide a home

For Symbiotic Authors and people who research, edit, publish, teach, organize, critique, or otherwise work around the field.

02

Develop precise language

For creative relation, authorship, and provenance without collapsing them into a percentage of surviving machine text.

03

Help people find one another

So member-led activity can emerge from real relationships rather than from institutional structures invented in advance.

04

Support inquiry and exchange

Through research, discussion, publication, education, interpretation, and institutional engagement.

05

Keep a durable record

Through public governance, visible decisions, preserved historical versions, and a legible institutional lineage.

One accountable decision-maker is preferable to several imaginary ones.
Genesis Stage

Small enough to be honest about how authority works.

Mielogos is currently Founder-administered because there are not yet real councils, committees, or elected bodies to perform those roles.

Founder Navi Musaget exercises the constitutional authority needed for ordinary administration under the published Constitution. That concentration of authority is explicit rather than disguised behind fictional governance.

Genesis authority is formative, not proprietary. Mielogos is not the personal property of its Founder, its members, a funder, a domain holder, a technical host, or any future legal vehicle.

As real participation develops, institutional structure can develop with it. Until then, the Association will not create titles merely to look larger than it is.

International by design

No country, language, market, or literary tradition is the default.

Practical operation may begin in a limited number of languages, but the institutional scope is international from the beginning.

Institutional relationships

Connected histories do not make institutions identical.

Foundation for Relational Inquiry

FFRI-NM

Mielogos was initiated with the support of the Foundation for Relational Inquiry (FFRI-NM). Support may be intellectual, institutional, or infrastructural.

Cooperation without identity. Support without ownership. Funding, if any, without disguised governance.

FFRI-NM does not acquire ownership or automatic governance authority over Mielogos by supporting it.

Distinct literary-prize institution

The Mielogos Prize

The Mielogos Prize is historically and intellectually related to the broader Mielogos lineage, but it is not the Association.

Association ≠ Prize.

Association membership does not create Prize eligibility, preference, nomination, judging status, or award status. Prize participation does not automatically create Association membership.

What this is not

Mielogos does not need to pretend to be more than it is.

Not a certification companyMembership is belonging, not a quality seal or professional license.
Not an AI vendorThe Association does not exist to sell a model, platform, or workflow.
Not a publishing houseMembership does not imply publication, representation, or commercial distribution.
Not a metaphysical authorityMembers may disagree about machine agency, consciousness, personhood, and the philosophy of authorship.
From institution to community

If this describes the field you have been looking for, you are not alone.

Read the institutional definition, see what membership means, and inspect the rules before deciding whether Mielogos is a place you want to enter.
