Human Authorial Locus
A human author remains responsible for the creative work placed into the world and exercises substantive authorship within the process.
For people whose work develops through materially consequential creative relations with generative systems.
Mielogos is an international membership association for practitioners, researchers, editors, publishers, critics, organizers, and others engaged with Symbiotic Authorship.
It exists to make an emerging creative practice institutionally legible, to help people in the field find one another, and to provide durable structures through which the field can develop.
Mielogos is not a certification company, an AI vendor, a publishing house, or a claim that there is only one legitimate way to create with generative systems.
A work or defined creative practice may be symbiotic when a human remains the authorial locus, the human and generative system condition the process in both directions, and that relation materially affects what the work becomes.
A human author remains responsible for the creative work placed into the world and exercises substantive authorship within the process.
System contributions affect human decisions, and human decisions materially shape subsequent system contributions.
The relation changes what the work or defined creative practice becomes in a creatively consequential rather than incidental way.
For a human participant who identifies, in good faith, at least one work, project, or defined creative practice that they understand to constitute Symbiotic Authorship under the Mielogos framework.
For a human participant who supports, studies, edits, publishes, teaches, researches, organizes, critiques, or otherwise engages with Symbiotic Authorship without presently making a Practitioner declaration.
Declare honestly. Belong freely. Help where you can. Respect the freedom of others. Keep responsibility for your own work.
Mielogos grows from both creative practice and research into authorship, provenance, human–AI relations, and literary institutions.
The documents that materially define membership, institutional authority, conduct, and foundational principles are public.
Mielogos was initiated with the support of the Foundation for Relational Inquiry (FFRI-NM). Cooperation without identity. Support without ownership.
The Prize is a distinct literary-prize institution. Association membership and Prize participation are separate relationships governed by separate instruments.
Mielogos is preparing to open membership with a concise, privacy-preserving process built on good-faith declaration and public-identity verification.
